Our team under the leadership of Dr. Xianfeng Xia at the Chow Yuk Ho Technology Centre for Innovative Medicine and Department of Surgery, CUHK, is dedicated to developing innovative regenerative medicine strategies. We utilize stem cell technology, biomaterials, nanomedicine, and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Our focus areas include integrating cell-based therapies, functional biomaterials, nanoparticle delivery systems, and bioengineering techniques such as magnetic targeting to treat gastrointestinal diseases like GI mucosal injury and related complications, tumors, and motility disorders. The research team is part of an interdisciplinary group led by Professor Philip Wai-Yan Chiu, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at CUHK. Core members include Professor Kai-Fung Chan. Our group collaborates with prestigious institutions including South China University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Southern Medical University, and Southern University of Science and Technology.

The research areas cover fundamental and translational research of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) & Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs), novel biomaterials & nanomedicine for regenerative medicine and disease therapy, and therapeutic exosomes for regenerative medicine.

Work Requirements:

Postdoctoral Fellow:

- Possess a Ph.D. obtained within 3 years or pending defense in Polymer Materials, Nanomaterials, Biomedical Engineering, Cell/Molecular Biology, Immunology, Medicine, or related fields.

- Demonstrate independent research capabilities and innovative scientific thinking.

- Have at least one first-authored SCI publication in relevant fields.

- Exhibit strong responsibility, diligence, teamwork, and communication skills.

- Have excellent English proficiency (written and spoken).

- Be able to commit full-time at CUHK.

Research Assistant:

- Hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry/Materials, Life Sciences, Medicine, or related disciplines.

- Have expertise in relevant techniques such as organic/polymer synthesis, cell culture/molecular biology, immunology, animal experiments.

- Have SCI publication experience preferred.

- Show responsibility, diligence, teamwork, and communication skills.

- Be proficient in English reading/writing abilities.

PhD Student:

- Meet CUHK Graduate School’s PhD admission requirements.

- Possess a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Medicine, or related fields.

- Have a genuine interest in our research directions and strong research potential.

- Exhibit responsibility, diligence, and teamwork spirit.

- Be proficient in English (meeting University standards).
