The company's predecessor was City Telecom, renaming itself Hong Kong Television Network Limited in 2012 after selling its main business, Hong Kong Broadband Network, and attempting to enter the free-to-air television market in Hong Kong. However, in March 2018, HKTV announced its abandonment of its television business, publicly stating its focus would shift towards its online shopping platform - HKTVmall, withdrawing its application for a free-to-air television license and returning mobile TV licenses to the Hong Kong Communications Authority. Following this, on July 13, 2021, HKTV changed its name from Hong Kong Television Network to Hong Kong TV & Tech Ventures Limited, marking the completion of the company's business transformation. Known for its e-commerce platforms, HKTV operates Hong Kong's largest 24-hour online shopping mall, HKTVmall, offering top-notch shopping and entertainment (‘shoppertainment’) platforms.
