Lead Data Engineer - APAC

One of my clients, a leading Asia-Pacific platform that provides premium, hospitality-driven services, is currently expanding their DataStrategy,EngineeringandAnalytics team and recruiting for a Lead Data Engineer.

This is a senior technical role responsible for shaping and building the organisation’s data foundation. This position oversees end‑to‑end data engineering work, including data pipelines, integrations, governance, and the overall data platform.

What you will do:

• Define and implement a scalable data technology stack that balances performance, reliability, and cost.

• Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines across both cloud and on‑premise environments.

• Develop clean, well‑structured data models to support analytics and reporting needs.

• Partner with cross‑functional and regional teams to understand data requirements and design fit‑for‑purpose solutions.

• Establish data governance, quality standards, and compliance processes aligned with relevant regulations.

What is required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, ideally with exposure to production‑grade pipelines and analytics‑driven environments.

• Strong skills in SQL and Python, plus hands‑on experience with NoSQL databases.

• Practical experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Airflow, dbt, Alteryx, or similar.

• Solid understanding of cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Databricks) and hybrid integration patterns.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, version control, and DevOps workflows.

• Comfortable working in lean, fast‑moving environments with high ownership.

• Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
