Technical Officer / Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. No.: AiDLab-TO/ATO)

What will you do?

(a) To provide daily operation support of IT systems to the Laboratory’s researchers, administrative and marketing activities;

(b) To maintain and update accurate record of IT inventory;

(c) To assist in maintaining the office IT infrastructure and relevant applications including but not limit to define security setting, server administration and configuration for the office and the GPU of the Laboratory and to ensure service stability and availability;

(d) To assist in implementation and update of IT policies, guidelines, operation procedures and other IT-related documentation of the Laboratory;

(e) To repair and replace equipment when necessary;

(f) To liaise with internal and external parties to ensure the provision of quality IT services;

(g) To work at different sites occasionally, including but not limited to PolyU campus, external venues for conferences and exhibitions; and

(h) To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Centre Director of Laboratory or his delegates or the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Laboratory from time to time.

Who is our right fit?

(a) Higher Diploma or above in Computing, Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields.

(b) 2-3 years of experience in IT support and administration or related field. Previous experience in tertiary education industry would be an advantage.

(c) Good knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and IP phone system.

(d) Experience in Linux system administration and technical support, preferable on Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment and have a good conception of Hillstone Firewall, Sangfor VMware, Aruba Wireless network, NETAPP storage maintenance, would be an advantage.

(e) Have good problem-solving, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills.

(f) Be able to work independently with positive attitude, self-motivated, eager to learn new technology and share with other team members, and a good team player with a strong sense of commitment.

(g) Have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua; and

(h) Willing to work at irregular hours when necessary.

Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Technical officer.
