<p>We are developing next-generation soft tactile sensors using innovative approaches, including but not limited to:</p><p>- Optical/vision-based sensing (deformation tracking, marker displacement)</p><p>- Magnetic-based sensing (embedded particles, field modulation)</p><p>- Other modalities (resistive, capacitive, or hybrid designs)</p><p></p><p>The ideal candidate enjoys iterative prototyping, isn’t afraid of trial-and-error, and can think outside the box. This internship offers hands-on experience in soft sensor design, material fabrication, and experimental validation. Ideal for students passionate about robotics, material science, or smart sensor development.</p><p></p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><p>- Assist in designing and prototyping soft tactile sensors (silicone molding, composite material preparation, 3D printing).</p><p>- Explore different sensing mechanisms and fabrication methods under guidance (optical, magnetic, or other novel approaches).</p><p>- Compare performance of different sensor designs through structured experiments.</p><p>- Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and propose creative solutions.</p><p></p><p>Required Skills & Experience:</p><p>- Pursuing or holding a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.</p><p>- Hands-on experience in tactile sensor, soft sensor, soft robot, or soft material development.</p><p>- Hands-on lab/prototyping experience (silicone molding, soft material fabrication, chemical handling, 3D printing).</p><p>- Experience with basic tools and equipment (cameras, microscopes, data acquisition system, basic circuitry).</p><p>- Knowledge of advanced fabrication methods (laser machining, microfabrication, surface coating).</p><p></p><p>In your statement, briefly describe:</p><p>- Your most relevant hands-on project experience</p><p>- Ideas for improving tactile sensing.</p>
