HK- Head of Finance JD

About the Role: We are looking for a hands-on, agile, and strategic Local Head of Finance to lead the finance function for our HK business. The ideal candidate should have a solid brokerage background with exposure to both retail and institutional clients, along with experience in multi-product trading, especially U.S. and HK equities. This role plays a vital part in optimizing financial operations, ensuring compliance, enhancing cross-department collaboration, and supporting the company’s business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the full spectrum of finance operations for the HK business, including financial reporting, budgeting, tax, audit, and cash flow management
• Take charge of regulatory reporting and compliance, with a focus on SFC requirements and Financial Resources Rules (FRR)
• Oversee margin and risk calculations, including cross-margin arrangements, understanding how purchasing power is aggregated and margin risks are assessed across different products and clients
• Collaborate with upstream and downstream counterparties, managing and calculating deposit requirements
• Review, streamline, and automate existing finance processes and internal controls through smart use of financial systems and technology
• Work closely with compliance, operations, product, and technology teams, ensuring finance is an integrated partner in decision-making and execution
• Support strategic initiatives such as new product rollouts, system upgrades, and regulatory changes
• Lead, mentor, and develop the local finance team to ensure stability and efficiency
• Communicate key financial insights and business risks to senior leadership for timely and informed decisions
What We’re Looking For:
• Proven experience in a brokerage, securities firm, or fintech, ideally with both retail and institutional exposure
• Strong understanding of cross-margin logic, margin calculations, and risk forecasting
• Familiarity with upstream/downstream deposit flows, including risk-based deposit allocation models
• Solid knowledge of HK financial regulations, especially FRR and SFC rules
• Experience with financial systems, automation tools, and a passion for improving processes through technology
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills ‒ able to work cross-functionally and solve problems from a company-wide perspective
• Agile, pragmatic, and open-minded ‒ someone who embraces change and constantly looks for smarter ways of doing things
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred
