General Manager

Job Description:

• Oversee and manage all laboratory operations within a construction testing laboratory, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations;

• Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control protocols to maintain accurate and reliable testing results;

• Manage a team of laboratory technicians and staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations;

• Coordinate and prioritize testing projects, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tests;

• Ensure the availability and proper calibration of testing equipment and instrumentation;

• Interpret and analyse testing data, prepare accurate reports, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders;

• Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in testing methodologies specific to the construction field;

• Manage relationships with clients, addressing their concerns, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction;

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the laboratory environment.

Qualification and Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as civil engineering, construction materials, or a related scientific discipline;

• Master's degree in a related field is preferred, but not essential;

• Professional membership (i.e. HKIE) or certifications in relevant areas, are advantageous but not essential;

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a laboratory management role within a construction testing laboratory or a related industry.

• Strong background in construction materials testing, including knowledge of testing methods, equipment, and standards.

• Proven experience in managing laboratory operations, including staff supervision, resource management, and project coordination.

• Familiarity with quality management systems and accreditation requirements specific to construction testing laboratories.

• Experience in interpreting and applying industry standards and regulations, such as CS1, CS2, CS3, BSEN or ASTM.
