The intern will conduct AI-assisted research using publicly available data, with a primary focus on qualitative analysis and a smaller quantitative component. Research topics will include Hong Kong primary and secondary schools, such as school profiles, annual plans, tender notices, principal information, recurrent and non-recurrent funding, project proposals and budget information. The intern will also research AI training programmes offered by NGOs in Hong Kong.
As much of the source material is unstructured, the intern will identify reliable sources, extract relevant information, analyse findings and maintain structured research records. The intern may also assist in developing automated data collection and regular checking pipelines, and in transforming research findings into practical dashboards, databases or webpages. Training and supervision will be provided in AI-assisted research, data structuring, workflow automation and responsible use of public information.
Applicants should have strong research, analytical and information-organisation skills, with the ability to evaluate source reliability and work with unstructured information. Good written Chinese and English are preferred, as many source materials may be bilingual. Applicants should be detail-oriented, systematic and able to document research methods and findings clearly.
Basic experience with generative AI tools, spreadsheets or data management is preferred. Knowledge of web research, data extraction, Python, web scraping, API usage, workflow automation tools such as n8n, Make or Zapier, or dashboard development will be considered an advantage. Applicants should also be willing to learn new tools and maintain research datasets accurately over time.
