On September 26, 2015, WDA founded the first 926 World Dog Day and screened the documentary Eating Happiness (Eating Happiness) produced by Xuanling in various cities around the world, revealing the cruel reality of eating dog meat in various Asian countries.
On September 12, 2016, in response to the WDA's signature campaign launched in the British Parliament, the British Parliament passed a motion and exerted pressure on South Korea through diplomatic channels, successfully closing Seoul's largest dog meat market - the Peony Market.
On April 11, 2017, Taiwan successfully legislated against the consumption of dog and cat meat under the promotion of WDA, becoming a beacon of Asia.
On December 12, 2018, the US Congress passed a bill banning the consumption of dog and cat meat. WDA has been pushing for legislation in the US since 2015 and has set a historic milestone.
Every year, more than 30 million dogs are consumed in Asia, of which 70% are stolen companion dogs. After extensive investigations, WDA wrote a white paper on severe punishment for dog theft, and at the same time it is pushing for stricter laws on dog theft while advocating a ban on the consumption of dog and cat meat in mainland China.
On March 6, 2019, Chinese lawmakers proposed a bill to protect companion animals, including provisions to ban dog meat and severely punish dog theft. WDA's tireless efforts to promote legislation not only save dogs and cats as members of human families, but also give hope to their owners.
On March 13, 2019, Japanese parliamentarians based on first-hand information dug up by WDA conducted a parliamentary inquiry on the dog meat issue. Surprisingly, Japan has more than 100 dog meat restaurants, and these facts are not known to the world. The goal of WDA is to successfully promote Japanese legislation banning the consumption of dog and cat meat before the Tokyo Olympics in July 2020.
On June 11, 2019, WDA and Italian Members of Parliament jointly submitted a bill banning the consumption of dog and cat meat to the parliament. Italy is a country that loves animals, and I believe the bill will be passed soon.
On July 10, 2019, the British Parliament added a clause banning the consumption of dog and cat meat to the Animal Welfare (Criminal Liability) Bill, which is expected to pass this year. The WDA's years of efforts in the UK have yielded tangible results.
2019 July 28, WDA launched a petition campaign for the International Convention on the Prohibition of Dog and Cat Meat, calling on people to sign and support, and forming a wave around the world. The convention has been endorsed by US and British lawmakers, as former US Congressman Jeff Denham, who successfully pushed for legislation in the US, said: "The ban on dog and cat meat shows that the US and other countries that have already enacted legislation are on the same front line and are contributing to the international movement to ban dog and cat meat."
