Job Responsibilities

• Wine Selection - Choosing and sourcing wines for the restaurant's wine list, selecting wines from various regions, varietals, and price points to cater to different customer preferece

• Inventory Management: Managing the restaurant 's wine inventory, including ordering, receiving and storing wines, ensuring proper storage conditions to maintain wine quality is crucial

• Wine List Development: Creating an updating the wine list, including descriptions of the wines, vintages, regions, and tasting notes

• Wine Cellar Management: In fine dining establishments with extensive wine collections overseeing the management expansion for the wine cellar

• Pricing and Profitability: Setting price for wine on the menu to maximize profitability while providing value to customer, this involves understanding cost of goods and profit margins

• Wine Marketing & Event s - Promoting wine program through marketing and promotional activities and events such as tastings and wine dinner, to attract wine enthusiast and build the restanrant's reputation as a wine destination

• Supporting relationships: Establishing and maintaining relationships with wine distributors, producers, and suppliers to ensure a reliable source of quality wines

Requirement

• Certificate as a sommelier or a degree in hospitality is beneficial

• Previous experience holding similar roles as Wine Director or as a Sommelier

• Extensive knowledge on wine and regions of the different types

• Knowledge of local and overseas vineyards and wineries

• An understanding of wine making process

• Available to work long hours, weekends and travel
