Job Purpose

The Industrial Designer will be responsible for designing innovative, manufacturable, and user-centric products from concept to mass production. Based in Shenzhen, this role will work closely with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing partners to ensure design excellence, cost efficiency, and speed to market.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Development

• Develop industrial design concepts for consumer electronic products, including form, CMF (Color, Material, Finish), ergonomics, and usability.

• Translate brand and product strategy into compelling physical product designs.

• Create sketches, 2D layouts, and 3D CAD models from early concept to final design freeze.

2. Prototyping & Manufacturing Support

• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and production-ready.

• Support rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC, soft tooling) and iterate designs based on testing and feedback.

• Collaborate directly with factories, tooling vendors, and suppliers in Shenzhen and surrounding regions.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Product Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Packaging Designers, and Supply Chain teams.

• Participate in design reviews, engineering discussions, and production readiness meetings.

• Align design decisions with cost targets, timelines, and quality standards.

4. CMF & Design Quality Control

• Define and maintain CMF standards across product lines.

• Review production samples (T0/T1/T2) to ensure design intent is met.

• Identify and resolve design-related production issues during mass production.

5. Market & Trend Awareness

• Research market trends, competitor products, materials, and manufacturing techniques.

• Apply global design trends while maintaining brand consistency and differentiation.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.

• 3–7 years of experience in industrial design, preferably in consumer electronics, hardware, or fast-moving consumer products.

• Experience working with factories and suppliers in China is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Rhino, Alias, or equivalent).

• Experience with rendering tools (KeyShot, V-Ray, or similar).

• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes: injection molding, CNC, surface finishing, assembly, and tooling.

• Good knowledge of materials and CMF applications.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and design thinking mindset.

• Ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, cost, and manufacturability.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

Language

• Mandarin: Fluent (spoken and written)

• English: Working proficiency (able to communicate design intent and technical details)

Nice to Have

• Experience in vape / e-cigarette / consumer hardware categories.

• Experience launching products from concept to mass production.

• Familiarity with Shenzhen manufacturing ecosystem.
