Hong Kong Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Co., Ltd. (HKTV) was founded on May 19, 1992, and after many years of transformation and development, it has evolved from the original applicant of the television station to a technology company that provides electronic commerce platforms. The company's predecessor was City Telecom, and after selling its main business, Hong Kong Broadband Network, in 2012, it was renamed Hong Kong Television Network Co., Ltd., and attempted to enter the free-to-air television market in Hong Kong. However, by March 2018, HKTV announced the abandonment of its television business, announced to the outside world that it would focus on its online shopping platform - HKTVmall, and therefore withdrew its application for a free-to-air television license and returned its mobile television license to the Hong Kong Communications Authority. Subsequently, on July 13, 2021, HKTV changed its name from Hong Kong Television Network to Hong Kong Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Co., Ltd., marking the completion of the company's business transformation. HKTV is now known for its electronic commerce platform, operating Hong Kong's largest 24-hour online shopping mall - HKTVmall, providing over top-notch shopping and entertainment ('shoppertainment') platforms. In addition, HKTV introduces automated retail stores and systems through Shoalter Automation and Shoalter Technology, applying the latest robot technology, self-designed machinery and software, and realizing the fully automated sales and delivery process of offline retail stores, providing constructive technical solutions for future online retail.
