The Marine Assurance Technical Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant marine assurance across the company's global marine shipping activities. This position supports the Marine Assurance team by providing technical expertise, conducting vessel & terminal inspections, MSA audits, managing risk assessments,and ensuring adherence to international maritime standards and company policies.
Responsibilities:
The role is expected to perform the functions below, including but not limited to:
Marine Risk Management: Conducts technical vetting and assessments of vessels, terminals, and marine operations to ensure compliance with company standards and international regulations. Identifies, evaluates and provides solutions to marine issues/risks associated with owned and chartered vessels, and third-party vessel DOC operators. Vetting & Inspection: Vetting of all vessels and terminals, manages OCIMF SIRE inspection protocol for the region and participate in
industry teams/programs as required. Technical review and evaluation of Spot and Time Charter vessel based on industry and PCl-Shipping MA Standards.
Incident Investigation & Reporting: Conducts and Supports investigations into marine incidents and near misses, providing technical analysis and recommendations. Contributes to root cause analysis and
corrective action planning.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaises with internal stakeholders (e.g.,Chartering, HSE, Operations) and external parties (e.g., shipowners, classification socleties, port authorities) to progress PCI-Shipping business.
Represent the company at industry forums and working groups related to marine safety and assurance.
Policy & Standards Development: Assist with the technical aspect, development and continuous improvement of marine assurance policies,procedures, and technical standards.
Monitors changes in international regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL,ISM,etc.) and assess their impact on company operations.Training & Mentorship: Provides technical guidance to peers, the training of junior staff and other departments on marine technical assurance matters. Promote a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications:
• Chief Engineer with at least 5 years seagoing experience on oil/chemical/gas tankers or LNG carriers.
•Minimum 10 years of experience in marine operations, assurance, or technical superintendent roles.
• Strong marine technical knowledge to troubleshoot fleet issues and a good knowledge of OCIMF, IMO regulations, ISGOTT, and marine industry best practice.
• Experience with SIRE inspections, vetting systems, and marine risk assessment tools.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to travel internationally for inspections and audits.
• LNG gas carrier and/or DP experience is desirable.
