Position Description:
Our biology team in Hong Kong is seeking a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate with a background in neuroscience and iPSCs to join our efforts in disease modeling and aid in mechanistic studies. Employing cutting edge techniques, you will contribute to our neurodegenerative disease therapeutics pipeline, partake in proof-of-concept studies on therapeutic candidates, and advance mechanistic understanding of therapeutic candidates in iPSC models. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, have experience in iPSCs, be well versed in molecular biology and microscopy techniques and have a desire to drive research in a new therapeutic area in a start-up environment.
Responsibilities:
● Conduct cell culture and read-out experiments such as stem cell maintenance, cell differentiation, real-time PCR, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescent staining, etc.
● Develop and optimize protocolsto generate high-quality neurons and datasets in addition to performingmolecular biology experiments
● Analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific progressthrough written and verbal reports and presentations
● Contribute to the day-to-day laboratory operations such as ordering reagents and consumables, maintaining equipment and instruments, and managing laboratory assets.
● Work effectively and closely with our department membersacross multiple fields including biology, computational biology, and chemistry.
Requirements:
·B.S./M.S. in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Sciences or related field with 2+ years of academic and/or industry experience. Proficient experience working with mammalian cell culture and/or iPSCs is required.
·Experience with molecular biology techniques including qPCR, immunofluorescences, ELISA or Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) assays, and NGS is required.
·Critical thinking, problem solving skills, and ability to work independently are preferred
·Strong written and oral communication skills in English for documenting experiments, presenting findings, and collaborating with team members
·Highly organized individual with attention to detail and a strong desire to learn
·Willingness to work on weekends and holidays as the experiment demands
·Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technology and handling neurons in assaysis a plus but not required
