About Philosophy Since opening our first Grappa’s restaurant in 1990, we at El Grande have always had one goal in mind – to provide Hong Kong with great food, great drinks and exceptional service in a relaxed and casual environment. We value our staff who work hard at creating a warm and fun experience for diners and drinkers in all of our establishments. Whether it be at one of our bars, music venues or restaurants, we feel every customer is important and strive to make you happy. In Asia’s most international city, we feel it’s important to provide patrons with food of the highest standards found anywhere in the world. History In 1990, the early days of foreign dining in the international Chinese/British urban jungle known as Hong Kong, a younger JR Robertson set out on a mission to open a dining concept like none other in the city at the time. That concept was Grappa’s – a restaurant with high-quality Italian cuisine that wasn’t in a hotel, but rather offered guests a warm, casual atmosphere with some of the friendliest staff in town. A place where families or fast pace city workers alike could unwind over a glass of vino, a mean bowl of pasta and a hearty steak. It was then, in October 1990, that El Grande was born. Since the grand opening of Grappa’s in Pacific Place, our company has created some of Hong Kong’s most beloved restaurants and bars including Grappa’s, Cadillac, Inn Side Out, Mo Bro's, Happy Valley Bar and Grill. Each has its own special character and all strive to give customers a dining experience that keeps them coming back for more.
